There will be no Barbies, no chocolate boxes, no decorations bought at Tiffany's, and definitely nothing pink under the Christmas tree for Miller First this year. The theme of this upperclassman floor for Deck the Halls was A Manly Christmas. RAed by Evan Pittsley, this close-knit floor would not settle for anything less than macho in and around their floor lounge. Here, Chris Jacobs lounges in an oversized arm-chair, with a soda in one hand, the remote in the other, and a half-eaten pizza in his lap. In his own words, "Will somebody turn down that Christmas music?! My game's on TV!"Witmer 2A, a first year hall, was decked out in a Christmas Through The Decades The hall began in the 1950's, going through every decade -including the future. Complete with metallic walls and Christmas trees for the future and disco balls representing the eighties all the way to old posters and an old fashioned "mom" for the fifties. Pictured here is the 90's, with hopscotch on the floor, a boom box and prints of nineties TV shows pasted on the wall.
Anyone walking through Grantham Third better hold their breath because Christmas Under the Sea was the hall's theme this year. The girls, Caroline Partridge and Sarah Hawkins, decked out in their most summery attire, enjoyed The Little Mermaid, the classic Disney tale of an underwater princess, while the Santa lifeguard Lux Lemaster looked on. Bubbles and sea creatures surrounded the Grantham lounge, making anyone used to hanging out in the fish bowl feel right at home.
First year hall, Naugle 2A, took a chance and decided to decorate as a Christmas Monopoly board for Deck the Halls. Each of the girls' rooms represented a different monopoly space, the bathroom Water Works and the study room Jail. The lounge, representing Free Parking was where the game mascot resided, none other than Mrs. Claus, Nicole Amper, offering fresh-baked cookies to anyone who entered. We will have to see if the floor followed through and monopolized the competition.
