Recently, students and faculty members have been exposed to the difficult truths surrounding the issue of sex trafficking and human exploitation.
Changeling Clint Eastwood's grim, gristly tale of 1930s L.A.-complete with corruption, crime, and the criminally insane-could have been an engrossing, intricately detailed thriller in the tradition of L.A. Confidential or even Chinatown. Instead, it manages to ramble through its intentionally paced 142 minutes to conclude with one of the most banal clichés in the history of filmmaking.

Growing up, most Americans had the stale chestnut "you can't judge a book by its cover" spoon-fed to them by some authority figure eager to flaunt their cornucopia of wisdom. Indeed, before the late 80's, this platitude held more or less true but Chip Kidd and his revolutionary graphic design tactics rendered this proverb obsolete.

Dear Editor,
In reading last issue's article "Gay at Messiah: Part I" I was very excited for this topic to be acknowledged and for sincere conversation to be had on campus. As one of Messiah's homosexual students, Executive Secretary of S.G.A. and as a senior I've looked forward to hearing the college community really discuss this subject in a manner of Christian conduct.

Letter to the editor:
I would like to express my gratitude to the Swinging Bridge staff for publishing the recent article, "Gay at Messiah." Although the article has sparked controversy, and perhaps even anger, I believe its message is very relevant to many students.

When I saw the front page of the last Swinging Bridge issue, I immediately grabbed a copy. I spend all my time reading CNN.com, watching twenty-four hour news networks, reading the latest celebrity gossip but I never feel the need to pick up the school paper.

There's been a lot of talk around campus in the last few weeks about Messiah's policy and practice regarding homosexuality. I just have one thing to say to all parties involved in this conversation: stop talking about it! That means you, Tim Mackie. This is one conversation Messiah College simply cannot afford to have.

When Barack Obama won the Presidential election on November 4th, it was not only his fans in Grant Park or his national supporters who celebrated his victory. Much of the international community rejoiced as well. Only several countries seemed to favor McCain, according to both the New York Times and The Economist World Poll.

As an Obama supporter, the issue of abortion came up quite frequently in conversation during the weeks leading up to the election. As a Christian and a student of Politics, it is an issue I have given a great deal of thought to, and would like to present my view.
